BBQ Baltimore Burger with Crispy Shallots

Ingredients

For the pit beef:

  • 1 package Pineland Farms Natural Meats burger patties
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ½ cup brown mustard
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup National Bohemian Beer
  • 2 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt
  • 3 shallots, sliced and placed in a dry paper towel
  • Brioche hamburger buns
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup oil

Directions

First, make the barbecue sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown mustard, brown sugar, beer, garlic, cayenne pepper, and salt. Simmer for 6 to 8 minutes

While the sauce simmers, grill the burgers over medium-high heat for 5 minutes on each side. Once flipped, top with Swiss cheese and continue cooking for another 5 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 155ºF.

While the burgers rest, heat oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. After 3 minutes, add shallots and fry for 5 to 6 minutes until golden brown. Remove from pan and drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with salt.

Toast the hamburger buns. Once toasted, assemble the cheeseburger with barbecue sauce and crispy shallots. Serve alongside your favorite fries and pickles. Enjoy!
