Homestyle Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
- Olive oil (for the pan)
- Pinch of crushed red pepper
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 lb 80/20 Pineland Farms Ground Beef
- 2 Tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp celery salt
- 2/3 cup ketchup
- 2 Tbsp brown mustard
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
In a large pan on medium heat, add olive oil and crushed red pepper and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
Next, add diced onion, diced red pepper, and crushed garlic. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes, until the onions begin to soften. Add the ground beef and tomato paste and season with celery salt, salt and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes, making sure to break up the beef.
After 5 minutes, add the remaining ingredients to the pan: ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, water, and Worcestershire sauce and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
Toast your buns with butter and garlic powder, then spoon generous helpings of meat on top. Devour!
